Saunton
Saunton Beach North Devon is home to some of the most stunning coastline in the country, offering endless amounts of outdoor fun whether on the coastline, or further inshore on the wild ruggedness of Exmoor. It is the only beach to allow dogs all year round making it perfect for a vista with your four legged friends and is a short drive from The Fernery, Devon.
Saunton is world famous for surfing and in particular Long Boarding due its consistent and ridable waves on the right swell. Saunton is alsoideal for Short board, Long Boarding, Body Board, and pure magic for Kite Surfing "when the wind is on shore". Even though Saunton beach is thought of as a more manageable wave for inexperienced surfers it can produce some incredible surf. There are many peaks to choose from and Saunton surf works throughout the tide but the surf tends to work better on an incoming tide and on a small day mid tide is best. Saunton is sheltered from North and North Westerly winds.
Nearby Braunton Burrows which forms the backdrop for the epic stretch of sand that is Saunton Sands Beach, a worldwide renowned Unesco Biosphere reserve, and an internationally recognised SSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). The Burrows themselves are home to an extensive and impressive range of both Flora and Fauna, and haven for wildlife lovers and walkers alike.
